Summary Log for this Leg (3) A delightful twelve days of exploring the wonders of southwest Prince of Wales Island and Foggy Bay, just the two of us. We explored Hydaburg, a native community where totem poles adorn front yards. Except for crossing Dixon Entrance, the distances between anchorages were minimal, and we had loads of time to read, putter, chat, think, photograph and journal-write. Twice, we stayed two nights in an anchorage, so the pace was quite relaxed. We felt we had the whole world to ourselves - seeing few fishing boats and, except for Foggy Bay, being by ourselves in every cove. We spent hours paddling or drifting serenely in the kayaks - looking, listening, rocking, musing. In comparison, Prince Rupert is a booming metropolis. |
