Summary Log for this Leg (6) Summary Log for Leg 6: We traversed two of our longest passages of the summer, across the Hecate Strait eastbound and across Queen Charlotte Sound southwest-bound. Both were serene, although we were shrouded in fog for about four hours traversing Queen Charlotte Sound. Attending to the tide tables, we used the strong southerly ebb to significant advantage on most days. The sea and sky continue to mesmerize. Queen Charlotte City and Winter Harbour were the "bookends" of the leg, with Shearwater Marina a mid-leg stop. The rest of the leg had the feel of solitary wilderness, anchoring alone in remote "outer passage" coves, kayaking for hours among old growth trees in shallow byways, and watching bears, sea otters, martens, eagles and kingfishers, great herons and hummingbirds.
