English Camp, San Juan Island

We luckily happened on a weekend re-enactment of life at the camp.

The camp photographer was a busy man.

To keep the troops busy, cooking contests were held ... using wood stoves & cast iron pots. At our cook-off, lamb was the centerpiece, accompanied by locally grown foods.

The time limit for meal prep was 15 minutes! Tasters ate and commented on the meals produced: lamb curry, bread pudding; lamb stew, apple cobbler.

The Kaiser determined the boundary between
the United States & Canada
to be Haro Strait.
San Juan Island
was American soil.

The English troops withdrew, as did the Krasnos
from Friday Harbor.
