Nakwakto Rapids

We passed through the Nakwakto Rapids at slack (natch!)
& spent four nights at anchorages marked with a circular icon.

Logs wedged on rocks in Schooner Channel
testify to the power of water barreling through.
The rapids can get up to 16 knots on ebb tides;
here it is about 30 minutes before slack to ebb.
Nakwakto Rapids at slack which lasts about 6 minutes.
Turret Island stands mid-rapids.
Cruising crews go ashore on Turret (aka "Tremble") Island for a tide cycle. Some leave behind their calling cards.
