Then there was Saturday basketball in the "one hoop" court on the stern deck under the containers,
a BBQ on D Deck, and of course birthdays, including Tom's!
Three hot "squares" a day, menu posted in the Officers' Mess. Edgar was our steward/messman.
(The Filipino crew prefered their own diet, served in the Crew's Mess.)
The ship's company gave Tom this present, noting the ship's noon position on his birthday and signed by the all the officers and crew.
